Saturday, July 3 - Bruno's to Green Lane. Class B, about 15 mph. A long ride of 80 miles for a midsummer's day. See many views of nature: farmland, ridge views, and streams with Little Road and Swamp Creek Road. Rolling hills. 5.5 hours of riding plus one hour for breaks with several water stops in parks. Saturday, July 3 - Cherry Hill Summer Ride. Class C+/C, 13-16 mph, 35-40 miles. Start at Woodland Falls Corporate Park, Rte 38 & Lake Drive, between Cherry Hill & Moorestown Malls, NJ. Sunday, July 4 - St Peters Village. Class C (pace)/B+ (terrain), about 50 miles. Starts 8:15 from the Manhattan Bagel Shop in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center. This is not a ride for beginners. The route is challenging and hilly--i.e., difficult out and easier return. We ride through numerous Chester County townships: Charlestown, W. Pikeland, Nantmeal, Warwick, Coventry and others. Alfresco lunch stop along the headwaters of French Creek in quaint St Peters Village. We return via Coventryville, Pughtown and Kimberton, stopping to regroup as required. No one dropped, cue sheets provided. Bring snacks, liquids, and money. A multi- club ride. Call if you want directions. Sunday, July 4 - Fourth of July Celebration. Class B/C+, 50-55 miles. Starting at 8:30 from the Bourse Bldg main entrance, 5th & Market in Philadelphia, we will follow the original George W's footsteps on his escape to Valley Forge, do a loop through the park, then return to Philadelphia via the Valley Forge bike trail. Monday, July 5 - A Ride to Celebrate! Class B, 16-18 mph, 70 miles. What better way to start the summer cycling season--Joe Parts' Holiday Rides! Pace may vary depending on prevailing conditions, winds, heat Joe's quads, etc. Expect plenty of long breakaways! Two rest stops, while we tour Burlington, Atlantic, Gloucester Counties. We will ride the latest version of my relentless effort to explore new and lesser traveled roads. We will tour Chester and Cecil Counties on our way to our lunch stop overlooking the Susquehanna River at Port Deposit, MD. Saturday, July 10 - Roll Along the Back Roads! Class C++, 12-14 mph, 40 miles. Leaves 8:30 from the Folsom Pathmark on MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township. We'll bike by Neumann College, the highest point in Delaware County, and continue through Glen Mills to Ridley Creek State Park. Thence through Media and back to Pathmark. Expect to finish between noon and 1:00 depending on group strength, and we'll enjoy lots of back-road beauty. While on flat roads the ride will follow a C pace, but bring strong legs for the hills as they are definitely B rated. Bring money for a snack. Sunday, July 11 - Seven-Eleven from Glenside. Class B+, 16- 17 mph, 50-60 miles. Starts at 8 from the Glenside Library, Keswick Avenue & Waverly Road in Glenside. We'll let the weather decide the distance and amount of climbing for this ride. If it's hot and humid, we'll stay close to 50 not-too- hilly miles. If it's relatively cool with low humidity, then we'll hit the hills for 60 miles. We will stick to the advertised pace regardless of the conditions. Sunday, July 11 - Jersey Ramble. Class C, 12-14 mph, about 40 miles. Meet at Kingsway High School. routes 322 & 551, just across the Commodore Barry Bridge in New Jersey at 9, and ramble around south Jersey. We will be stopping for a snack during the ride. Sunday, July 11 - B Ramble to North Wales. Class B, 14-15 mph, 40-mile version and also a 50+ mile version. Detailed instructions will be available for 40-mile return. Leader will continue on longer version to see the last unspoiled areas of central Montgomery County. Rest stop at Wawa at 20 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum at noon. Saturday, July 17 - Ride the Boards at the Shore! Class C/D, 12- 13 mph on the road, 8-9 mph on the boardwalk, 30 miles. Ride the Atlantic City boardwalk and the island. Start at the parking lot on the boardwalk, just south of the Hilton Hotel, promptly at 7:45 because the boardwalk closes to bikes at 10. AC Expressway to Exit 2, the last exit before entering AC, or Black Horse Pike all the way into AC. Cross over a bridge (Intracoastal Waterway) and see "The Monument". Continue about 1/3 around the monument and you are on Pacific Ave, first street from beach. Take the first large parking lot large on your right. Parking is $7 or $10 for 12 hours. We'll ride to the north end of the Boards, then backtrack to the southern end in Ventnor, then south onto Atlantic Ave to see Lucy the Elephant in Margate, and on to the Longport inlet to enjoy the ocean view on the jetty. Thence inland to Somers Point for breakfast at Smittie's. Total ride time 4 hours. There are public facilities on the Boards. If you need transportation, I can take 3 riders. Saturday, July 17 - Paoli and Valley Forge Park. Class B- for pace (13-14 mph), Class B for distance (about 55 miles). Ride through parts of Delaware, Chester and western Montgomery Counties. Rolling terrain with some hills. Stop for bagels or pizza in Paoli, continue along the ridge, then down to Valley Forge and through the park. Meander through Upper Merion before returning along River Road and the Bike Path to Manayunk and the River Drives. Meet at the Italian Fountain at 8:15 for a prompt 8:30 start. Sunday, July 18 - Almost All the Way to Alloway. Class B, 16-18 mph, 62 miles. A repeat of last month's very successful ride, but with a planned detour around the missing bridge. Two rest stops, whether we need them or not, and since it is not a holiday maybe the cheese shop in Elmer will be open. Pace will be held, with plenty of extra-long breakaways for those that find cycling below 19 mph repugnant. Meet at Camden County College, the rear parking lot, behind the CIMM building, on Peter Cheeseman Road, across from the Y, Blackwood, NJ, for an 8:00 start. Sunday, July 25 - Maillot Jaune. Class B/C+, 14 mph, 50/75 miles. A ride to celebrate the Tour de France. Maillots jaune are expected to be worn. I will, however, allow maillots vert, maillots blanc, and maillots blanc a pois rouges. Two starting locations: 75-mile ride will start at Valley Forge National Park Visitor Center, lower parking lot at 8:00. We will ride to meet the 50-mile riders. 50-mile ride will start from East Goshen Twp Park, on Paoli Pike about a mile northeast of West Chester, at 9:30. Both distances will then stay together for a very pretty ride through central Chester County horse country. After finishing the 50-mile loop in East Goshen, the 75ers will head back to Valley Forge. Expect at least 3 food stops for the 75, and 2 food stops for the 50. Some climbing is required, but no hors categorie. Baguette & vin optional. Call/e-mail for directions to either start location. Sunday July 25 - TOPS, Tandems of Philadelphia & Suburbs Ride. Class C+/C, 12-14 mph, 45 miles. Starts 9:00 at the CVS (formerly IGA) shopping center just north of Lambertville, NJ on Rt 29. We'll ride up to Milford and visit "The Bakery". Pace depends on the riders. All riders including singles welcome. Call for directions. Leaders: Pat and Bill Rock, 215-659-5148.
Sunday, July 25 - B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain at noon. Show and Go.
Sunday, July 25 - Bulldog Ride. For strong B riders. 50-60 miles. One short rest stop at a Wawa type store. The main difference between this ride and the B ramble is that it is longer and the rest stop is shorter (it is not lunch!). We go to Paoli or Doylestown as the group wishes. No cue sheet, so everyone sticks together and the leader can't be dropped. Meets at the Bulldog statue at 25th and Pennsylvania Aves. We leave at noon sharp. Leader: Bruce Taubman, 215-735-7935.

Pennypack Park. July 11, 18, and 25. Class C, 12-13 mph, 17 miles. Leaves from the city's far northeast section and heads downstream toward the Delaware River by way of Pennypack Park's paved road. This is a warmup for the upstream ride we will hopefully do in August. Meet at Pollock Elementary School on Welsh Road, across from Tolbut St, lower parking lot for a noon start. Sunny Sunday Afternoon Ride. Class D, usually 12-25 miles. This ride is for the beginner who wishes to improve his or her cycling skills and for those new to Philadelphia who want to explore the out-of-the-way places in the city and near suburbs. Schuylkill Trail. Class C+, 25+ miles. Meet at the Spring Mill parking lot of the Schuylkill Trail at 6:30 PM. Riding towards Valley Forge and beyond, this will be a chance to keep the legs in shape and get in some after-work miles without having to dodge potholes and cars. As the season progresses, the pace will be adjusted as we get in better shape; feel free to break away and stretch your legs at any time. I'll try to make sure that no one is left behind. From Marlton. Class B, 15-17 mph, 20-25 miles. A beautiful ride thru Marlton, Medford & Shamong. We'll start in Marlton, progress thru Medford and then into Shamong and back. If there's any interest, we can do one or two fast 3-mile loops around Kings Grant at the end of the ride. Meet at Kings Grant shopping center 2nd entrance, make right on Merchants Way. Glenside. Class B+/B, 16-17 mph, approximately 30 miles. Come explore the interesting and diverse roads of eastern Montgomery County! We'll ride until dark on routes that are moderately hilly and generally lightly traveled. Meet at the Glenside Library, Keswick Ave & Waverly Rd in Glenside, for a prompt 6:30 PM departure. MTB in Wissahickon Park. Class B or C, approx 6-12 miles. We meet at the parking lot just west of the Valley Green Inn. 6 PM. We usually have 2 rides: intermediate and advanced. Note that we bike the trails, not Forbidden Drive. Helmets are mandatory. Rain cancels. You should get a Wissahickon Park permit - cost is as little as $10 (the fee is really an annual contribution to the Fairmount Park). BCP Softball. July 9 and 23. We will meet at 6 PM at Clifford Park, Walnut Lane & Wissahickon Avenue and play until dusk. Everyone is welcome as long as you're not too good. MTB Belmont Plateau. Class C/D. July 3, 10 and 17. We'll meet 10 AM at the Italian Fountain for a 3-hour ride. The trails are crushed rock, dirt and maybe a creek crossing, wide fire roads and twisty singletrack and a few climbs for spice! A MTB or cyclo-cross or hybrid bike will work; you should have a permit, see BCP website for link. Use bug repellent like OFF! or anything with DEET.
