Friday, July 1 - Freaky Friday. Class B, 16-18 mph rolling pace, 40 miles. Leaves promptly at 9:00 from Laurel Acres Park on Church St, Mt. Laurel, NJ. From Route 38, take Church Street south. The park is on your left at the 5th light. Ride to Nixon's, one stop for bathroom/snacks. Leader: Pete LaVerghetta, 215-379-1715, fixedgear@hotmail.com.

Saturday, July 2 - Special Hot Weather Ride (Adhoc). Class B, 60-70 miles. Departs from McDonald's on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore, at Ardmore Avenue, across the street from I-HOP at 8:00. The rain date is Sunday, July 3. Ardmore is about six miles west of Center City. This ride was selected for a hot day becase we will spend about twenty miles riding in shaded creek valleys in or near the Brandywine Valley. Usually, these roads have light traffic; on this holiday weekend, I expect them to be deserted. Q sheets will be provided. The ride will be relatively flat for a ride in the Brandywine Valley, but it won't be New Jersey flat. The pace will be B level touring without hammering. We'll try to schedule food breaks every two hours. Slower riders and new riders are encouraged to join us for the first part of the ride. Sunday, July 3 - B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, 45-50 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum at noon. Destination is Blue Bell. Food stop is Deja Brew, which used to be Brew Ha Ha - this brew is coffee, not beer. Cue sheets provided. Terrain is flat to rolling hills with one or two moderate climbs. Sunday, July 3 - Dublin to Riegelsville (Adhoc). Class B, 15 mph, 59 miles. Starts promptly at 9:15 from the Dublin Village Plaza shopping center in Dublin on Route 313. We'll pedal to the northern fringe of Bucks County to the town of Riegelsville, on the Delaware River. Thence we'll cross into NJ and follow the river south to Milford for lunch. We'll then re-cross into PA and continue back to Dublin.
Take Route 611 or 202 north to the Doylestown bypass. Continue on Route 611 north around Doylestown. Then exit onto Route 313. Go left (west) on Route 313 for 5 miles to Dublin. The shopping center is on the right. Leader: Jeff Reardon, jefftrek2100@aol.com, (215)674-3992

Monday, July 4 - First of Fourth (Adhoc). Class B, 15-16 mph, 20+ miles. Ride in to Washington Square for the Fourth of July Celebration Ride. Leaves from the Betzwood section of Valley Forge Park (by the restrooms) at 7:15, or from Spring Mill train station (parking lot north of bike path) at 7:50. NO food stops! Monday, July 4 - Fourth of July Celebration. Class B/B-, 13-14 mph, 50 miles. Starting at 9:00 from Washington Square, 6th & Walnut in Philadelphia. We celebrate our nation's 229th birthday by doing what we love most, riding a bike. We will head for Valley Forge via the Main Line hills, then return by way of the Schuylkill trail. Saturday, July 9 - Port Deposit. Class B, 14 mph, 82 miles with some hills. Meet at 8:00 at Kennett Square High School at Rt 82 & Broad St in Kennett Square. We will tour Chester and Cecil Counties on our way to our lunch stop overlooking the Susquehanna River at Port Deposit, Md. Bring money for lunch. Saturday July 9 - Pea Patch Island. Class C. 45 miles. Meet 11:00 at Kingsway Regional High School, Rt 322 & C.R 551, Swedesboro NJ for a round trip ride to Ft Mott. Cross Commodore Barry Bridge, next light after I-295 is C.R. 551 (Kings Highway). The school is on the left. I will leave Cheltenham at 7 to ride a century and meet the main group here. The Pea Patch ferry doesn't allow bicycles on weekends, so Be prepared to lock your bicycle if you are going to use the ferry to Pea Patch Island and Ft. Penn Delaware. About 2 hours round trip. Saturday, July 9 - FROM Mays Landing to Philadelphia. Classes B and C, ~55 miles, flat terrain. For those who plan to ride the American Cancer Society's Bike-a-thon on Sunday the 10th, this is the event which will get your car to the ACS finish line. Meet at 6:15 for a 6:30 departure from the mini-market/gas station in Palmyra, NJ, immediately after passing the toll booths of the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, on the north side of Route 73 (on your left as you enter NJ). We'll drive down to Lenape Park in Mays Landing, leaving our cars there for the ACS ride the next day, then cycle back. The cycling is virtually all flat, and mostly on lightly traveled roads. We will take a lunch break. Some sections of the route in south Jersey are fairly remote, so please bring plenty of water & a couple of energy bars. This ride frequently falls on a sunny, hot day - bring sunblock. Saturday, July 9 - West of the Brandywine (Adhoc). Class B, 13-14 mph, 60-70 miles. Departs 8:00 from McDonald's, Lancaster & Ardmore Aves in Ardmore, across from I-HOP. The rain date is July 10. Ardmore is about six miles west of center city. We will visit West Chester, Northbrook Orchards, Embreeville, Marshalltown, and Unionville. New riders are encouraged to come for the first part of the ride. There will be turn around spots along the way for those who must return early. We will have food breaks about every two hours. Sunday, July 10 - Sunny Sunday "There's Really a Public Swimming Pool Off Main Street in Manayunk?" Ride. Class D, 12 miles. We will stretch our nautical/water theme beginning at the formal entrance to the Azalea Garden at the circle behind the Art Museum. We will ride 6 miles to Manayunk -- out one drive (MLK) and back the other (Kelly). The Schuylkill River (water!) will be in view a majority of the time and we will cross the Manayunk Canal (water!). Depending on a myriad of factors (the weather, the will of the group, the hours of operation, the crowds, etc.) we can opt for a swim (in water!), stop at LeBus for an outdoor lunch (with water of course!), and/or eat water (!) ice at Chloe's. We then return to the Italian Fountain (water!). Cue sheets provided for those who do not wish to join the non-biking festivities. Bring locks, money for water (!) ice/lunch. Friday, July 15 - NE Philly Morning Spin. Class B, 15-16 mph, approx 35 miles. This ride leaves at 9:00 from the Pennypack Park Parking lot at the intersection of Ryan Ave. and Sandyford Ave., next to Austin Meehan Middle School. Saturday, July 16 - Annual Picnic. Lower Perkiomen Park, right off the bike path, near the playground, from 11 to 2:30. But we need help! We are looking for volunteers to help set up, clean up and cook at varying times during the day. Look for BCP signs to see where we are in the park. Saturday July 16 - Looping Around for BCP Picnic. Class C, 11+ MPH, 40+ miles. Leaves 8:00 from Valley Forge National Historic Park Welcome Center, lower parking lot. Circle around back to Chesterbrook, perhaps over to Malvern, other loops back thru Chesterbrook, King of Prussia, Norristown, Betzwood, Audubon, before heading for Oaks to the BCP annual picnic. And yes, there are a few hills. No cue sheet; no one left behind; as required we will stop to regroup. Bring water, snacks and cash. A multi-club ride. You may call for directions. Saturday July 16 - Picnic Ride. Class C+, 14-15 mph, 14-60 miles. Free food and two start locations. For our first start we will meet at 8:30 in the Kohl's parking lot at routes 202 and 73, the parking area across the street from the Center Square Fire Company. We ride to the next start location, Spring Mill train station parking lot. Approximate departure time from Spring Mill is 10:00. From that point all ride classes are welcomed to join in a ride up the Schuylkill Trail to the picnic. Possible detour along the way through the Norristown Farm Park. The distance from Spring Mill to the picnic is 14 miles, 20 miles with detour. If you plan on riding from Kohl's, expect a possible 60 miles total. Rain does cancel. Saturday, July 16 - Mercer/Hunterdon County. Class B, 15-16 mph, 62 miles. Leaves from the Staples parking lot on West Bridge St about a mile west of New Hope at 9:00. Goes through a beautiful part of New Jersey. We'll travel on plenty of pristine roads covered by tree canopies. Expect a few hills and a lunch stop. Saturday, July 16 - Pottstown Picnic Ride (Adhoc). Class B, 40-50 miles to picnic. Departs from McDonald's on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore at 8:00. It's across from I-HOP at Ardmore Avenue. Ardmore is about six miles west of Center City. There are three parts to this ride. In Part One we travel west toward Malvern; there is not much climbing in Part One. In Part Two, we climb over Turnpike Ridge, and then traverse the Charlestown hills as we head north toward a river bridge a few miles south of Pottstown. This is the cows and horses part of the ride. If you don't enjoy cows, horses and hills, you can choose the level, altenative route in Part Two. In Part Three, after crossing the river, the ride will be slightly downhill as we follow the river southeast toward Oaks to the Picnic. There will be one food break after two hours of riding. Bring snacks and cash, as the picnic will be at the 40-50 mile mark. Non-members are welcome (picnic is free). Don't feel guilty about eating the free food; we want you to like us. Newbies are encouraged to come on the first part of ride so that you can see whether you like it. Jack will lead going out. Eileen will lead returning. The rain date is Sunday, July 17; WaWa stops will replace the picnic, but the route will be the same.

Wednesday, July 20 - Full Moon Summer Walk (Adhoc). Class Family Friendly, xx miles, 5 to 8 PM. A family friendly, moonlit hike in the Wissahickon. Naturalist David Bower of Fairmount Park and Tree Tenders' Mindy Maslin will host the evening. Hike will be followed by a dessert potluck. Bring some goodies!!!! Meet at Thomas Mansion, 6245 Wissahickon Ave (between Walnut Lane and Johnson St.)

Saturday, July 23 - Joanna Furnace (Adhoc). Class B, 14-15 mph, 76 miles with hills (both up and down) to historic Joanna Furnace, with lunch at the Joanna store (outdoor dining patio). Start 8:00 at Pocopson Elementary School, PA 926 at the Brandywine Creek just east of Old Rt 100. Take Old Rt 100 (Creek Road) north from US 1 at Chadds Ford, PA to left on PA 926 and turn right at traffic light at Pocopson Road. School is on the left. Saturday, July 23 - Get the Weekend Started Right Ride (Adhoc). Class C, 13-15 mph, 40 miles. Departing Italian Fountain for a 7:30 start and be back by 10:30. We will ride to Fort Washington State Park and return via the the SRT. This ride will have a little bit for everyone. We will go through Manayunk, ride through a couple of farms in Whitemarsh, there will be hills to climb, and flats to sprint. One short stop at the WaWA in Lafayette Hill at Germantown and Joshua. Saturday, July 23 - Southern Chester County (Adhoc). Class B, 14 -15 mph, 70 miles. Leaves at 8:00 from McDonald's on Lancaster Ave in Ardmore across from I-HOP at Ardmore Ave. It's is six to ten miles west of Center City. We may visit Downingtown, West Chester, Longwood, and Unionville. This ride will not require much climbing, but it will not be New Jersey flat. Expect very little automobile traffic. We will take food breaks about every two hours. Bring water and snacks anyway,as food selection may be limited. New riders are encouraged to join us for the first part of the ride to see whether you like this. There will be turn around points for riders who must leave early. Cue sheets will be provided. Saturday, July 23 - Mountain Bike Belmont Plateau (Adhoc). Class C/D, 5-10 mph, 10 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain at 10:00 for a 3 hour MTB ride of the trails. Bring snacks and fav refreshment. Sunday, July 24 - Destination Unknown. Class B+, 16-17 mph, 55-60 miles. Start 8:00 from Holicong Park, Route 202 & Holicong Road in Bucks County, approx 5 miles east of Doylestown. Exact destination to be determined - most likely a combination of scenic Bucks County and New Jersey roads. Expect a moderate amount of climbing and one rest stop. Rain cancels. Sunday, July 24 - Maillot Jaune. Class B-, 13-14 mph, approx 55-65 miles. Start at 8:00 from the Valley Forge Visitor Center (lower lot). We celebrate the final day of the Tour de France, while traversing the hills of western Delaware County on our way to Chadds Ford for a Wawa rest stop. Additional stops if temperatures dictate. Sunday, July 24 - Norristown Farm Park. Class D, 20 miles. Noon departure from Spring Mill train station parking lot. We will follow the Schuylkill trail to Norristown and then take to the roads to reach Norristown Farm Park. Rain at the start cancels. Cue sheets provided. Saturday, July 30 - Celebrate President's Day in July, It's My Birthday and I'll Ride If I Want To. Class B-, 13-14 mph, 59 miles (guess how old I am) to Schwenksville. Beat the heat - ride leaves promptly at 8:00 from Allen's Lane train station at the corner of Allen's Lane & Cresheim Road in West Mt. Airy, just minutes from my house. Excellent coffee and pastry available before the ride at the station coffee shop. Rolling terrain with a few climbs and a sit-down lunch at the Train Stop Restaurant. Fast service. Saturday, July 30 - Loop The Airport! Class C, 12-14 mph, ~30 miles. Meet 8:30 at the Folsom PathMark on MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township. From PathMark we'll bike by the historic Leiper House, loop the airport, and swing by Fort Mifflin. We should return around noon. The ride will keep a steady pace and the terrain is totally flat. There will be a few stops as we watch the planes and briefly check out the historic sites. Rain cancels the ride. Saturday, July 30 - Start the Weekend Off Right (Adhoc). Class C+/B-, 13-15 mph, 38 miles. This ride leaves from Center City and heads towards Fort Washington State Park. We will follow last years Schuylkill Century 38 Mile Loop. Fast on the flats and wait to regroup at the top of the hills. One quick WaWa stop. Saturday, July 30 - Delaware State and Chester County (Adhoc). Class B 14-15, 72 miles. Ride departs at 8:00 from Ardmore McDonald's, Lancaster & Ardmore Aves, across from I-HOP. It's about eight miles west of Center City. We will ride southwest toward Chadds Ford, Longwood, Yorklyn, Avondale, and West Grove. Expect rural roads with almost no automobile traffic. Climbing should not be excessive, but it won't be bike-path flat. The rain date is Sunday, July 31. There will be turn-around points for riders who must return early. New riders are encouraged to come on the first part of the ride to see whether you like this. Expect food breaks about every two hours. There are several routes we can choose from, either heading north into Montgomery County or west into Chester County. Sunday Morning Breakfast Ride. Class C, up to 30 miles. Meet 8:45 at the SE corner of 22nd & Spring Garden for a delightful ride to a delightful place to have a delightful breakfast. Sunny Sunday Afternoon Ride. Class D, usually 12-25 miles. Meets every Sunday at noon at the formal entrance to the azalea garden at the circle behind the Art Museum. For the beginner who wishes to improve his or her cycling skills and for those new to Philadelphia who want to explore the out-of-the-way places in the city and near suburbs. Narberth ChainSmokers Ride. Class B, approx. 30-35 miles. Leaves at 6:00 from Mainly Bikes, 229 Haverford Ave in Narberth. Marlton. Class B, 15-17 mph, 20-27 miles. A beautiful ride that starts in Marlton, goes through Medford, and then into Shamong and back. If there's interest, ride can be extended from 21 to 27 miles. Evening Ride from Glenside. Class B+/B, 16-17 mph, approx. 25-30 miles. Meet at the Keswick Cycle Co, 408 N. Easton Rd (near Keswick Ave), for a prompt 6:30 departure. Come explore the interesting and diverse roads of eastern Montgomery County! We'll ride until dark on routes that are moderately hilly and generally lightly traveled. There may be other paced rides available, or better yet, come by to lead a ride of your own! A fast-paced morning ride through the hills of Fairmount park including Neill Dr, Greenland, Black Rd, Lemon Hill, and possibly sunrise at Belmont Mansion. Rear and front blinkie light recommended. Bryn Mawr Local. Class B, 15-16 mph, 32 miles. This ride leaves from the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum at 6. We ride to Merion, Gladwyne, and West Conshohocken, returning via Manayunk and the Bike Path. Thursdays on the Schuylkill. Classes B- (15-17 mph) and C+ (13-15 mph), 20-25 miles. Meet at the Spring Mill train station parking lot on the Schuylkill River Trail at 6:30. It's near E. Hector St and E. North La in Conshohocken. From Ridge Ave take Barren Hill Road to the first light, then left to the station. We will ride towards Valley Forge and beyond, returning before daylight ends. No potholes, cars, hills, cue sheets or admission charge. No one left behind. For those who can make it early, we'll do an easy 4-5 mile warm up toward Manayunk and back, beginning at 6:00 sharp. Softball. Meet at 6 PM at Clifford Park, Walnut Lane & Wissahickon Ave, and play until dusk. Everyone is welcome as long as you're not too good. Krank with Kolman. Class C, 30-40 miles, 12-14 mph. Come on down and discover a new area to ride. This is wonderful, open flat to slightly rolling farm land. We will hold a C pace, but faster riders are welcome and may ride off. Meet at baseball field parking lot, Sharp & Columbia Sts, Millville, NJ. From 55 S, take exit 27. Go south. Cross light. Bear right at the Y. Stay right at second Y. Go about 1 mile. Laundromat is on left; parking lot for the ride is on the right. Usual start time is 8:00, but ride may start later or be canceled depending on the weather, so call to confirm. Rain cancels. Joint ride with SJ Wheelmen. Blue Bell Special. Class C+, up to 30 miles, 14-15 mph. No ride on July 16th, check "Picnic Ride". The plan is to get a ride in before the traffic and heat becomes unbearable, so an 8:00 departure is a must, hopefully back by 10. Meet at the Kohl's parking lot at Routes 202 & 73, across from the Center Square Fire Company. Bring your ride ideas, determination, coffee and or breakfast money. Rain does cancel. Summer Training Ride. Class B+, 16-17 mph, 50-60 miles. Leaves from the Italian Fountain 10:00 to avoid the summer heat. The classic Sat monthly ride kicked up a notch. Expect rolling terrain with one or two moderate climbs, and ending with an optional 19-20 mph avg pace line down West River Dr. The goal for this month is to keep a B+ pace.
