BCP offers regular weekly rides. Below is a general description of the weekly rides, with pace, mileage, starting time, location, and leader or coordinator. The weekly rides are also listed by date in the Monthly Ride Calendar which you should check for specific ride leaders and any additional information on the ride.

Sundays

Sunday B Ramble. 12:00 PM. Class B, 14-15 mph, usually 40 to 50 miles. See Monthly Ride Calendar for description and destination. Meet at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. Note: There will be no B Ramble on June 8 or June 15. Coordinator: Jim Laurino, 215-476-5091, .

Sunny Sunday Afternoon D Ride. Noon. For the beginner who wishes to learn and improve biking skills. Usually 12-20 miles. Meet at the formal entrance to the Azalea Garden at the circle behind the Art Museum. Note: There will be no D Ride on June 8 or June 15. Coordinator: Jeff Bakely, 215-843-1093, . Sunny Sunday C Spin-Off. 12:15 PM. A true C ride which cheerfully waits to regroup. Usually 25-30 miles. Meet at the rock near the Italian Fountain, behind the Art Museum. Note: There will be no C Spin-Off on June 8 or June 15. Coordinator: Tom Witt, 215-977- 2164, .

Mondays

Monday on the Main Line. Come on the largest evening bike rides on the Main Line. Multi-level rides meet at 5:30 PM and leave at 6:00 sharp every Monday (except holidays) June thru September at the Church of the Saviour, 657 N. Wayne, Ave, Wayne, PA. We meet in the rear parking lot of the church adjacent to the gym (Bld. F). Bathrooms (for changing clothes) and water are available inside the gym. Tuesdays

Chestnut Hill Lunch Hour Ride. 1:00 PM. Class A-/B+, 15-16 mph, 15 miles. Starts outside Borders Book Store in Chestnut Hill. Routes vary from moderately to very hilly. Relaxed dress code. Email me if you want to do this ride but a 12:00 start time would work better for you. Leader: Dave Hanson, 215-836-9265, .

Narberth Chain Smokers. 6:00 PM. Class B, 15-16 mph, 28-36 miles. Training ride through the Main Line and Valley Forge Area. We will increase mileage as the summer goes on based on everyone's conditioning. Start in front of Mainly Bikes, 229 Haverford Ave, Narberth. We are looking for a B- pace ride leader. Tuesday Night Training Ride. 6:00. Class B, 15 mph, 30-38 miles depending on sunset. Departs from the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. We head north thru Fairmount Park, cross the McCallum Bridge to Germantown and beyond. Leader: Bruce Taubman, 215-735- 7935, .

Evening Ride from Mt. Airy. Ride starts promptly at 6:00 PM. Class C+, 12-14 MPH, 20 to 32 miles. Average speed and distance will increase as the days get longer. Meet at the Allen's Lane Train Station at the corner of Allen's Lane and Cresheim Road. Leader: Jeff Bakely, 215-843-1093, .

Wednesdays

Northeast Training Ride. 5:30 PM. Class B-/C+, about 20 miles. A ride into Bucks County and back. Call or email to make sure ride is going; no call (or email), no ride, but there are a few committed riders, so most nights the ride will go. Front and rear lights required. Ride will return around 7:00 PM. Meet in the Lincoln High School pool parking lot, on Rowland Ave just north of Ryan Ave. (Note change of location on June 18.) Leader: Joe Feeney, 215-601-8412, .

Thursday Night B Training Ride. 6:00. Class B, 15 mph, 25-30 miles. It's time to board the Bryn Mawr Local. Leaves from the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. We ride to Merion, Gladwyne, and West Conshohocken, returning via the bike path and Manayunk. The mileage will increase as daylight grows. Leader: David Finger, 215-605-8560, .

Thursday Night C Training Ride. Class C+/C-, approximately 15-20 miles. Departs 6:00 PM sharp from Italian Fountain. We'll do shorter hilly routes and be back by sunset. We'll push ourselves (it's a training ride) but no one will be dropped. NOTE: Any C- riders who'd like to train with us may ride the route a little slower as a sub-group. Saturday Northwest Philly Rides. C to B- pace. Note new start location: Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area on W. Mill Rd, between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike (from Chestnut Hill: 1st right on Stenton after Northwestern Ave, or left just after Acme on Bethlehem Pike); or gather at Bruno's 15 minutes early for a short ad hoc ride to the start. Also note special start location on June 21. We offer a variety of scenic rides into surrounding counties, often with a sit down food stop. Saturday C+ Training Ride. 9:00. Class C+, 13-14 mph, 30-40 miles. Ambler and Plymouth Meeting are among the common destinations, and we do our best to ride as a cohesive group. Routes are as flat as possible. We'll try to keep a steady pace and effort: rolling speed on flat terrain ~15 mph. Meet at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum at 9:00. Sunday, June 1 - Vernon's 3rd Annual 50th Birthday Ride. 9:10. Class A/B, 16.75 mph, 53 miles. A bi-level ride to the Red Barn Central Park in Doylestown (Red Barn is now closed). The plan is to ride at a sociable, well controlled and steady pace, maintaining proper management of the hammerheads. I am not sure I will be able to control those hammerhead types all day, so have no fear B riders, cue sheets will be provided for the return trip. This day will be festive and exhilarating. Sunday, June 1 - B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, 44 miles. Meet at the Italian Fountain at 12:00 noon. Food stop at Whole Foods Market in Devon. Cue sheets provided. Sunday, June 1 - Instructional Riding Class for New Riders. Class D, 10-12 mph, 10-12 miles. 12:00 noon. Class begins with some basic group and safety riding rules of the road followed by gear shifting practice on a gentle hill. Most of the instruction will be on the bike during the ride. Meet at the formal entrance to the Azalea Garden at the circle behind the Art Museum. Sunday, June 1 - Last minute B ride. (Adhoc). Class B, 15 mph, ~50 miles. Were you cheated by today's rain? Feel like an epic ride in new surroundings? Feel like an early start? Come preview a ride to be offered later this year, starting in Kutztown at 9. Features hills, creeks, hills, woods, hills, and a lake. Seek the missing Windsor Castle. Look for the missing virgins of Virginville, hometown of Frog Holler's Darren Schlappich. Visit Fleetwood, sans Mac. It's more like 3527. While there are no planned meal stops, there are convenience stores dotted along the way to enable water refills and snacks. Saturday, June 7 - A Treat at Rosenberger's Dairy. 9:00. Classes B-,14-15mph and C/C+, 12-13 mph, 45 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area, on W. Mill Rd between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike (from Chestnut Hill: 1st right on Stenton after Northwestern Ave or left just after Acme on Bethlehem Pike); or gather at Bruno's at 8:45 for a short ad hoc ride to the start. If you have not had an ice cream treat this year, this is the ride for you. We have not visited Rosenberger's Dairy yet this year - it's a classic store with locally made ice cream and basic food for the road. This is a meandering ride through county roads with some hills, with a sit down lunch stop at Rosenberger's, in Hatfield. We will try to stay together and regroup as necessary. Saturday, June 7 - Mt. Gretna. 9:15. Class B, 14-15 mph, 74 miles. Schwing! We'll start out in the farmlands of Lancaster County and then cross into wooded Lebanon County on the way to the storybook village of Mt. Gretna. Lunch al fresco at mile 38 at the historic Jigger Shop, which dates back to the 1800s. A short climb out of town will take us back into Lancaster County for a pretty run home featuring a covered bridge. The route out is rolling to moderately hilly. The way back is noticeably easier, with an optional water/snack shop if conditions warrant. Half price home baked pies at the finish. Start location is the Shady Maple Market, an attraction in and of itself, on SR 23 in Blue Ball. E-mail for directions and parking instructions. Class B+ 16 to 17mph, 42.
This is a steady pace ride to Ambler and back. Pace lines will be used when able. Ride starts from the Italian Fountain
behind the Art Museum 9:00 sharp.

Saturday, June 7 - C+ Training Ride: North Wales. 9:00.
Class C+, 13-14 mph, 51 miles.
This ride leaves from the Italian Fountain at *9:00* and heads to North Wales. We'll try to keep a steady pace and effort (rolling speed on flat terrain ~ 15-16 mph). Sunday, June 8 - Rides to and from the Pro Race & BCP BBQ on Lemon Hill. Lemon Hill is on the race route in Fairmount Park and is a popular viewing place for many cyclists. From Kelly Drive, turn up Sedgely Drive (across from Lloyd Hall), make the first sharp left onto Lemon Drive. You can bike or walk up Lemon Drive when the race is not coming through. Look for the BCP banner and hospitality tent. Starting locations for June 8th BCP sponsored rides include the following:

Northwest Phila: Bike the Wissahickon to the Race/BBQ. 10:00. Class C, 10-12mph, 27 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area (W. Mill Rd, between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike). Bike the beautiful Wissahickon to the BCP BBQ This ride is relatively flat, going down Forbidden Drive to Lincoln Drive and then to Ridge Ave and the bike path along Kelly Drive. We can begin to cheer the racers as soon as we hit Ridge. You will need a hybrid, mountain bike, or other bike with big tires to ride on the gravel paths. Our lunch stop will be the BCP BBQ on Lemon Hill. This is my favorite way to watch the race! Leader: Debbie Hoellein, 215-833-5545, .

Northwest Phila: Bike the Roads to the Race/BBQ. 10:00. Class C+, 12-14 mph, 32 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area (W. Mill Rd between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike). We'll ride a direct route to the race and club BBQ. Expect rolling hills with some minor climbs, particularly on the return, and an accurate cue sheet for those who may wish to return on their own or in separate groups. Western Suburbs: Wayne/Church of the Saviour (COS). 10:00. B- (14-16 mph) and C. Total mileage will be about 35 miles from COS to Lemon Hill and back to COS. Estimated time of arrival at Lemon Hill will be 11:30-12:00 (We'll have to navigate through Manayunk and may stop there for a while). We'll leave Lemon Hill at 1:30. Estimated return time at COS will be 3 PM. Start from the rear parking lot behind the gym at Church of the Saviour, 651 North Wayne Ave, Wayne, PA. Cue sheets will be provided. Lemon Hill/BCP Hospitality Tent. Start at 10:30 SHARP and finish at 1:00 PM. B-, approx. 25-30 miles, mystery route/destination. This ride will start and end at the BCP hospitality tent in time for the BBQ and viewing the end of the race. Leader: Jeff Braff, 215-665-2048, .

Northeast Phila. Meet 9:00 at Dunkin Donuts, Frankford Ave and Knights Rd. Ride approximately 25 miles down to race and 15 miles back to DD. Speed about 16 mph on flats, slower on hills. We will go up Knights Road into lower Bucks County, Bensalem and wind back to State Road, going around Tacony Palmyra bridge, down Aramingo to Girard, 2nd St to Spring Garden, out Spring Garden and wind through the Parkway area to get to Lemon Hill for the picnic. Heading back when the pack has cleared Lemon Hill for the last time. Expect to be home at 3:30 or so. Cue sheets will be available for those who want to go on their own schedule. Saturday, June 14 - Harleysville via Peace Valley Park. 8:30. Class B/B+, 16-18 mph and B-, 14-15 mph, 59 miles. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area, W. Mill Rd, between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike (from Chestnut Hill: 1st right on Stenton after Northwestern Ave or left just after Acme on Bethlehem Pike); or gather at Bruno's at 8:15 for a short ad hoc ride to the start. Expect lots of scenic country roads and rolling terrain with a few climbs, some short, some long, but nothing very steep. We'll regroup as needed, but there will be an accurate cue sheet for those looking to ride slower or faster. Restroom/snack stop at Peace Valley Park (mile 22) and either a Wawa or pizza/sandwiches/ice cream stop in Harleysville, your choice (mile 40). Call if weather is questionable. Saturday, June 14 - Twelfth Annual Oley Valley Strawberry Ride. A sociably paced C ride, about 29 easy miles, starting at 9:30 from the Daniel Boone Homestead. This great ride usually is more of a social event than a ride, and a good reason to eat strawberries, ice cream and Cool Whip. The Oley Lutheran Church also has other food. Exquisite countryside with some rolling hills (only about 1500 feet total climb) and a lush valley. A multi-club ride. No one dropped. Cue sheets provided. Bring lock, sun block, fluids, snack, and money. The Daniel Boone Homestead is off US 422. From the intersection of US422 and PA100, go west (seems north) on 422 for 8.4 miles to Daniel Boone Rd (at a light). Right on Daniel Boone Rd for 0.8 miles to the Homestead. Use the "jug handle" on the right instead of making a more dangerous left at the entrance at the Homestead. Park at the big parking lot, marked DeTurk Educenter, near the gate on the right. Saturday, June 14 - Vino velo lite, like..  09:00. (Adhoc). Class B+/A-, 42.5 miles.. This ride follows the route of the now famous ride called "Vino Velo", which is possibly the oldest continuous ride in Philadelphia. We won’t be traveling as fast and dangerous as the current ride. However our ride will be brisk but controlled and every effort will be made to maintain a  very steady pace. Ride leaves from behind the Art Museum ( the Italian Fountain) at 9:00 sharp.. Saturday, June 14 - C+ training ride and BFV. 9:00. (Adhoc).
Class C+, 13-14 mph, 31 miles..
This ride leaves from the Italian Fountain at 9:00 am  and heads to Conshohocken. It's a shorter ride in preparation for the Freedom Valley Ride on Sunday. We'll try to keep a steady pace and effort (rolling speed on flat terrain ~ 15 mph) . Bring your own snacks and enough water. THERE IS NOT REST STOP. Sunday, June 15. No BCP rides are scheduled today. Instead, go on the Bicycle Coalition's Freedom Valley Bike Ride. All rides start at Lloyd Hall, #1 Boathouse Row, behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Registration begins at 7:00. There's a mass start at 7:45.

Saturday, June 21 - Generals Washington and Lafayette in Pennsylvania. 9:30. Classes C+, 13-14 mph and C, 11-12 mph. 42 and 37 36 and 34 miles respectively. Meet at Ft. Washington State Park, Hawk Observatory, off Joshua Rd. Ever wonder who Ft. Washington or Lafayette Hill were named after? Come on this historical ride and find out. We'll loop into Center City, both riding and stopping on our way to learn the historical significance of Ft. Washington State Park and Lafayette Hill. Expect rolling hills, with a few climbs, particularly on the way back. Will stop to regroup as needed. Snack/rest stop at Lloyd Hall behind the Art Museum. Call if the weather is questionable. Sunday, June 22 - Sunday Afternoon Hills of Hurt. 2:00. Class A- /B+, 14-16 mph, 30-40 miles. This ride starts at Ft. Washington State Park South, 41 W. Mill Rd. in Flourtown. We'll start out by riding along the Green Ribbon Trail (mostly paved with a few short unpaved sections) up into the Militia Hill section of the Park. From there we head through some relatively flat areas of Oreland & Erdenheim. The second half of the ride is slightly masochistic including the hills of Montgomery Ave, Wises Mill Rd, the Wall in Manayunk, Harts Lane coming up from the SRT, and Germantown Ave back up into Chestnut Hill (possible stop at coffee shop across from Borders), rolling down Bethlehem Pike back to our start location. Saturday, June 28 - Charlestown Horse Farms. Class B-, 13-14 mph, 55/40/30miles. Hilly, multi-location ride to the scenic Charlestown Horse Farms. 55 mile ride leaves 8:30 from Ft. Washington State Park, Flourtown Picnic Area, W. Mill Rd between Stenton Ave and Bethlehem Pike (from Chestnut Hill: 1st right on Stenton after Northwestern Ave, or left just after Acme on Bethlehem Pike); 40 mile ride leaves at 9:00 from Conshohocken (SEPTA lot at E. Elm St and Harry St, under the bridge); 30 mile ride leaves at 9:30 from the rear parking lot of Church of the Saviour (657 N. Wayne Ave, Wayne, PA). Quick lunch stop at Wawa or sit down lunch at the Fox and Hound at mile 30 in Phoenixville; your choice. Cue sheets provided for slower or faster riders. Rain cancels. Sunday, June 29 - 26th Annual Schuylkill Canal Day. Class C+, 11 mph, about 50 miles. Starts at 8:30 from Manhattan Bagel in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center. The ride will take us along some well-traveled biking roads in western Montgomery County to the Oaks Reach of the historic Schuylkill Canal. Lunch at St. Michael's picnic/fair in Port Providence; view the annual events and sights at Lock #60 and watch the opening of the lock, scheduled for 11:00, 1:00 and 3:00 PM. Sunday, June 29 - Mo-De-Na! 9:00. Class B, 14-15 mph, ~50 miles. This beautiful sojourn through the Brandywine Valley starts at West Bradford Elementary School in Downingtown (Thorndale) and follows Broad Run as it empties into the Brandywine. The first 8 miles are virtually hill-free with beautiful stream views. The remainder of the ride is rolling countryside, with many short climbs and breezy descents, before finishing with a climb out of the valley from Modena and South Coatesville. Visit Groundhog College and Indian Hannah, ride the roller coasters of Parkersville and Hickory Hill, and enjoy the spells of shaded creekiness in this late June ride.
