Saturday, May 1 - May Day Pansy Ride. Class C. 100 miles from
Tookany Park in Cheltenham leaving at 7 o'clock, 75 miles from
Italian Fountain at the Art Museum connect at 8, Spring Mill at 9
and 40 miles from Betzwood about 10:00, arriving at Oaks about
11, then a 30 mile ride on the Perkiomen Trail. The mound at Otts
should be completely covered and in bloom with pansies at this
time. Lunch will be at Bethea on the trail on the return before 2

Saturday, May 1 - Perkiomen Trail. Class B-, approx. 65-70 miles,
mostly flat, 14 mph avg. Bring money or food for a picnic lunch
in the park (at the far end of the trail, you will have to carry

Saturday, May 1 - Oley Plus and Oley Minus. Class B. Two options:
80 miles at 15 mph or 60 miles at 13-14 mph. Both options include
a fair amount of climbing in the first 25 miles. Afterwards both
rides are mostly rolling with an occasional hill. Both loops
follow very lightly traveled, nice roads in Berks County, but the
80 mile loop also goes as far as the foothills of the Blue
Mountain ridge in Lehigh County. Great vistas at the top of every
hill, a visit to Kutztown and the beautiful Oley Valley at the
end of the ride. You can't go wrong with either loop. Starts at
9:00 sharp from the Amity Primary Care in Douglasville. From King
of Prussia take Rte 422 west. When the expressway ends, turn
right at the first light onto Rte 662 north, go about 3 miles.
Left onto Weavertown Rd at the small sign for Amity Primary Care.
The school is on the left. Turn left at the first road (Old
Airport Rd) and then left again at the first driveway by the
cemetery into the school lot. Approximately 30 minute drive from

Saturday, May 1 - Villanova Diner. Class C, 12-14 mph,
approximately 30-35 miles with moderate hills. We'll enjoy the
spring scenery in Merion and beyond, with a stop at the Villanova
Diner for a sit-down lunch break before heading back. Cue sheets

Sunday, May 9 - Exploring Towamencin to Salute Terry Kieserman.
Class C, 42+ mi. Start at 8:30 from Valley Forge National
Historic Park Visitor's Center, lower parking lot. As usual,
Arnie's 'flat' ride has some bumps and turns to awaken your
appetite for the brunch stop at Tiger's on Sumneytown Pike. This
route is an elongated version of Terry's D ride, embellished with
a few hills. No one left behind, cue sheets provided. Bring
snacks, liquids and money. Take Rte 422 and exit at Valley Forge
Rd, SR 23 W. VFNHP main entrance is at the traffic light. Take
the first right after entering, go around the Visitor's Center
and into the lower parking lot. If you want to come by SEPTA,

Sunday, May 9 - Musconetcong Mountain. Class B, 76 miles, 15 mph
avg, moderately hilly. Shady roads along beautiful creeks with
many covered bridges will take us to the top of Musconetcong Mt.
in northern Hunterdon County, N.J. Stops for snacks and fluids in
Frenchtown on the way out and Milford on the way back. Starts
9:00 sharp from Peace Valley Park near Doylestown. From Routes
202 and 152 in Chalfont, follow S.R. 152 north for 1.5 miles,
turn right onto New Galena Rd (easy to miss), go straight for 1.0
mile and enter park. Turn right at stop sign onto second parking

Saturday, May 15 - The Hills of Lehigh. Class B, 14-15 mph, 41
miles. This is an introduction to my new cycling "home". 41 miles
may not seem like much, especially since I knocked down the speed
a bit. But this will be a workout. There are several challenging
hills on this ride. Do _not_ bring your fixed gear to this one.
On the plus side, there is very little traffic and the views are
great. Meet at Parking Lot "F" in front Stabler Arena at 9. From
Philadelphia, take your favorite route to 309 North, then bear
right at 378 to Bethlehem. After you go under 78, follow the
signs to Stabler. You will turn right onto Black River Road, then
left at the T onto Bingen, which becomes, at the light, Mountain
Drive South. Stabler will then be on your right. Turn right into
the campus and park near the soccer fields in Lot F. About one

County. We will make a quick food stop near the halfway point in

Philadelphia and ride out to and through Ridley Creek State Park.
The ride starts in the parking lot of the Pathmark on Mac Dade
Blvd in Folsom, Ridley Township. We leave at 8:30 sharp, in order
to get to the Ridley Park train station to meet the 8:58 train
from the city. Riders from Philadelphia can take the R-2 train

Saturday, May 22 - BethleHills. Class B, 80 miles, 15 mph, hilly.
Here is your chance to ride over some of the best hills and roads
of upper Bucks, Lehigh and Northampton Counties. As a tribute to
Professor D. Johnson, the ride will include a tour of the
beautiful campus of Lehigh University. Stops in Hellertown and
Milford. The scenery is worth the effort. Starts 9 sharp from
Plumsteadville Shopping Center, Rte 611 and Stump Rd, a 30-minute
drive from Chestnut Hill. Park near the McDonalds, but not in

to Pathmark via the Smedley/Leiper Trail (paved). Expect to
finish before noon. We'll enjoy lots of back road beauty. While

Sunday, May 30 - Annual MDW Ride to Mount Gretna. Class B, 73
miles at 14 mph avg, rolling to moderately hilly. We start from
Blue Ball with typical farmland scenery in Lancaster County, then
climb over the Furnace Hills to explore the Great Valley of the
Appalachians. Waiting for us, out of Hansel and Gretel's book, is
the lovely town of Mt. Gretna. We'll tour the town and have lunch
at the Jiggler's Shop in their season opening weekend. Then we'll
climb over the county line again to return to the more familiar
Lancaster County landscape. A truly scenic route. Bring plenty of
water and snacks, since we'll probably make only one food stop.
Climbing will be at tandem pace. Starts at 9 sharp from Shady
Maple Market on SR 23 in Blue Ball. Pa Tpk to exit 298, S.R. 10
south towards Morgantown for about 1 mile, then right onto S.R.

The Bulldog Ride is Back! May 2, 16, and 30. For strong B
riders. 50-60 miles. One short rest stop at a Wawa-type store.
The main difference between this ride and the B Ramble is that it
is longer and the rest stop is shorter (it is not lunch!) We will
go to Paoli or Doylestown as the group wishes. No cue sheet so
everyone sticks together and the leader can't be dropped. Meets
at the Bulldog statue at 25th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue at

Sunny Sunday Afternoon Ride. Class D, usually 12-25 miles. This
ride is for the beginner who wishes to improve his or her cycling

two fast 3-mile loops around Kings Grant at the end of the ride.

Slackers Ride. Class C, D, E, F...Z 0 - ? mph Miles: 5 - ? This
is a series of rides designed for new riders or experienced
riders who need to get back into shape. Any class of rider on any
type of bike is welcome. We will start out slow and flat and
hopefully build up from there. Rides will be tailored to the
riders that attend. All rides will be in Delaware County from
various locations. You MUST contact me to find out the starting

MTB in Wissahickon Park. Class B or C, approx 6-12 miles. We meet
at the parking lot just west of the Valley Green Inn. 6 PM. We

as little as $10 (the fee is really an annual contribution to the

Fridays
BCP Softball returns for the 2004 season with games this month on
May 14 and 28. We will meet at 6 PM at Clifford Park, Walnut
Lane & Wissahickon Avenue and play until dusk. Everyone is
welcome as long as you're not too good. Feel free to contact John
J. Kalicki if you have any questions or need directions. Also,
if you plan to attend please call John to RSVP by the Wednesday
night before the game. If a "critical mass" is not achieved in
order to play, the game will be cancelled. John's email address

Wallyball will resume in the fall. Anyone interested in playing
in the summer, particularly if softball is rained out, call or

Saturdays
Krank with Kolman. Class C, 30-40 miles, 12-14 mph. This is
wonderful, open flat to slightly rolling farm land. Come on down
and discover a new area to ride. We will hold a "C" pace but
faster riders are welcome and may ride off. Call to confirm: rain
one hour before, or wet roads, cancels. Meet 8:00 at Baseball
Field parking lot, Sharp & Columbia Sts, Millville, NJ. From 55
S, take exit 27. Go south. Cross light. Bear right at the Y. Stay
right at second Y. Go about 1 mile. Laundromat is on left;
parking lot for the ride is on the right. Joint Ride with SJ

MTB Belmont Plateau. No rides scheduled, but check the website
