Friday, November 1 - Terry's Social. Class C-/D, miles TBD. Start the weekend early with a leisurely paced social ride on Friday morning with TerryK. Saturday November 2 - C&D Canal Dirt Ride. Class B, 35 miles 12-14 mph, flat. You will need an ATB or some sort of dirt bike for this one; it is about half dirt and half paved. We will explore the oceangoing C&D Canal in Delaware, with lunch in Chesapeake City. Saturday, November 2 - Meet the Train: Ridley to Chadds Ford. Class C+, 13-15 mph, 50 miles. We will meet the train from Philadelphia and ride out to Chadds Ford. Expect hills. Starts in the parking lot of the Pathmark on MacDade Blvd in Folsom, Ridley Township and leaves at 8:30 sharp, in order to get to the Ridley Park train station to meet the 8:49 train from the city. Riders from Philadelphia can take the R-2 train (#4207) that leaves Suburban Station at 8:25. Bring money for a food stop. Very cold or wet weather may shorten or cancel. Saturday, November 2 - Great Pumpkin! Class C, 34 miles. The historic barn at Linvilla Orchards has been rebuilt and there may still be pumpkins in the pumpkin patch. Let's ride there for lunch. Ride starts 10:00 from the Italian Fountain. Leader: Ann Martha, 215-548-8482.

Sunday, November 3 - B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, 45 miles. This ride leaves from the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum at noon. We work our way through Chestnut Hill to Fort Washington. Saturday, November 9 - The 2002 Fall College Tour. Class B/B-, approx 40-45 miles, more if weather permits. Orientation at 9:15, classes start at 9:30. Meet at the Italian Fountain for an excursion through campuses of higher learning in Philadelphia, Delco, and Montco. Brown bag lunch unnecessary as we will go through the Wawa cafeteria line. Saturday, November 9 - Cheltenham to Yardley. Class C, 12-13 mph, 45 miles. Starts 10:00 in East Cheltenham at Tookany Park. Parking is on the west side of Tookany Parkway north of Central Ave. Ride to Yardley via Verree Rd, Trevose, Brownsville Rd, Langhorne, and a tour around Core Creek lake and on to lunch in the Yardley Mall. Saturday, November 9 - Take the Kids! Class D, 5-10 mph, 19 miles. Meet at the large parking lot behind the Valley Forge Park's Visitors Center. Bring the family or just come yourself, but please come for one of last family rides of the year. We'll enjoy the last of fall's foliage on the Schuylkill Trail, as well as observing the local wild life flying or scampering by. Ride departs at 10:00 and meanders along the paved trail, with a break at Spring Mill Village to enjoy any snacks we've brought. Saturday, November 9 - MTB Show and Go! Class C/D, 5-10 mph. Meet at the Italian Fountain 11:00; we'll do 3 hrs of riding in Belmont Plateau. Sunday, November 10 - Thornton Ramble from Chesterbrook. Class C, 42 miles. Starts from Manhattan Bagels in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center at 8:30. A beautiful albeit strenuous ride through Chester County and a bit of Delaware County as well. No one left behind. Cue sheets provided. Bring snacks, liquids and money. Sunday, November 10 - Fixed Gear Fun. Class B, 15-16 mph, 40-45 miles. Fixed Gear Ride from Lower Perkiomen Valley Park to Manayunk and back for coffee. This ride will take place on the Perkiomen Trail and the Schuylkill Valley Trail. Average speed to be determined by the majority of the group, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. Call prior to 7 the evening of 11/9/02 to confirm. No calls, no ride. Meet at the trail head at the entrance of the Lower Perkiomen Valley Park off of the Oaks exit on Route 422 for a 9:00 start. Sunday, November 10 - Sunday Ramble with the Trickeys. Class D, about 15 miles. Leaves at 12:30 SHARP from the Burger King, north of Oxford Circle on Castor Ave. This ride will take about 2 hours plus a stop for a snack. Call in case of inclement or doubtful weather. Saturday, November 16 - Tour de Evansburg. Class B, 15-16 mph, 46 miles. After passing through parts of Whitemarsh and Plymouth townships, ride up to Evansburg State Park and around Valley Forge State Park, working our way back through Main Line estates, up Balligomingo, to Conshohocken. Some challenging hills, but mostly rolling terrain. Maps and cue sheets provided. Departs at 9:00 from Bruno's. Saturday, November 16 - Northeast Ramble. Class C-, 10 mph, 30 -40 miles. Route is all west of the Delaware River. Brunch/lunch stop along the way. All ride together. PLEASE NOTE: The pace will be C MINUS, about 10 mph; No cue sheets will be provided, so, you will have to ride at the leaders' pace. Sunday, November 17 - Along the Pohatcong and the Musconetcong. Class B, 70 miles at 15 mph, moderately hilly. From Lake Galena we'll head to Riegelsville, Pa, for a short snack stop before crossing the Delaware into the haunted valleys of the Pohatcong and the Musconetcong. So many native American names and nothing else left from all those people--think about it. Okay, back to the bike. After the toughest climb of the ride over Jugtown Mountain, we'll descend to Milford for some good muffins at the bakery (if any are left by then). Back in Pa, the gorgeous roads of upper Bucks will take us to our final destination, the parking lot. Starts 9:00 from Sailor's Point parking lot, of course, in Peace Valley Park. To start: Route 152 North or Route 202 North to Chalfont, continue for about 1.5 mile on 152 North and turn right onto New Galena Rd (easy to miss). Sunday, November 17 - B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, 40-45 miles. Out the west side of the Schuylkill, return on the east side. WAWA or Bruno's rest stop. Meet at the Italian Fountain at noon. Leader: Jeff Bakely, 215-843-1093, jbake@snip.net.

Saturday, November 23 - Meet the Train: Muscle the Hills! Class C+/C, 12-14 mph, 35-40 miles. Meet at the Folsom PathMark on MacDade Boulevard in Ridley Township at 8:30. We'll take a short ride to the Ridley Park SEPTA R2 train station and meet the 8:49 train from Philadelphia (Train #4207 departs 30th Street at 8:29). We'll bike to Neumann College, the highest point in Delaware County, take a short break and continue through Glen Mills to a lunch stop near Ridley Creek State Park. After lunch we'll cut through the park, pedal by Media, and via the Smedley/Leiper Trail back to the Ridley Park Train Station. We'll enjoy a few memorable hills (both ways) and see lots of back-road beauty. Bring money for the lunch stop and strong legs for the hills. Nobody will be dropped. Saturday, November 23 - Skippack or Schwenksville. Class B-, 14 mph, 40-55 miles. Depending on how cold the weather is, we'll do 40 or 55 miles. Sit-down lunch stop. Sunday, November 24 - The Windy Way. Class A/B+ 15 - 16 mph, 45 -50 miles. We'll leave Bruno's at 8:30. Wait! It's too windy to ride today. Will my bike stay upright? We'll find out on this windy ride. The group will seek out the windiest, unsheltered, bone-chilling, breath-stealing roads in the area. There will be some climbs, possibly some dirt, and plenty of wind. If it's raining, who cares, the ride is on, but just in case please call to confirm. Sunday, November 24 - Kolman Sunday Ride. Class C, 12-14 mph cruising pace, 30-40 miles. Starts 9:00 from Lenape HS, Hartford & Church Roads, Medford, NJ. Tour some new and some old familiar spots in Burlington County. No one gets dropped or lost. Rain, below 35 degrees, or windy and below 40 degrees cancels. Thursday, November 28 - Annual Thanksgiving Radnor Ramble. Class C, 31 miles. Starts at 9:30 from Wayne Farmers Market parking lot on Lancaster Ave (US 30) and Conestoga Rd in Wayne. A nice ride through Radnor Hunt country. Features a short stop at historic site of the Battle of Paoli. Boardwalk nature walk with drinks and snacks at half way point. Friday November 29 - Hike Valley Forge National Park. Class 1+, 10 miles. Blue Light Special!! Attention K Mart Shoppers, get your shopping done early and come on over to walk off yesterday's second helping of pumpkin pie. Bring water and snack. Refreshments provided midway and at end of hike. Boots recommended, but sneakers OK. A few rocky areas but mostly level easy walking. Rain cancels. Starts 10:00. From King of Prussia (Rt 202, 76, or 23) go west on Rt 23 to Valley Forge National Park past Valley Forge Chapel to Washington Headquarters parking lot. Leader: Tony Iaccarino, 610-265-5455.

Friday, November 29 - Welcome Home Liz Feeney! Class B+, 16-17 mph, 55 - 58 miles. My best friend Liz, formerly of Jeffersonville and a racing member of QCW, is coming home from the Pacific Northwest for a visit and of course to RIDE! We will meet at Bruno's at 11:45 for a prompt noon departure. The route is still in the development stages but will definitely go past our alma mater, Villanova University, and include some climbing. Saturday, November 30 - Back to Gap. Class B-, 55 miles at 13 mph, rolling with one long climb, and many short climbs. After a gentle warmup along the Struble Trail (paved! those of you who don't trust me!), we'll head straight west from Chester County into Lancaster County for a late breakfast at the Gap Diner. If you like our slow-poke pace on the tandem, this is the ride for you. It's a nice scenic loop. Starts 9:00 from Downingtown, Pa. From King of Prussia take Rt 202 south to Rt 30 west and exit on Rt 282, Wallace Ave. Turn left at the end of the ramp and park in first small parking lot on the right side of the road. Saturday, November 30 - Valley Forge Ramble with Ray. Class C/C+, 53 miles +/-. Meet at Bruno's at 9:15 for a prompt 9:30 start. We'll go downhill and flat to Valley Forge and then a rolling to hilly 28 miles before we take the bike path back to Spring Mill Station and back uphill to Bruno's. Ray Murtaugh will be up from Florida to ride with us! I will be leaving by bike from Glenside (Keswick Theater) around 8:30 if anyone wants to join me from there. Cancel if roads are wet or temperature is below 35 degrees. Bring some snacks. We will not be stopping for food until after 30 miles. Call if the weather is questionable. Sunday Morning Breakfast Ride. Class C, up to 30 miles. Meet 8:45 at the SE corner of 22nd & Spring Garden for a delightful ride to a delightful place to have a delightful breakfast. Bring locks and money for brunch in the middle of the ride. We always need volunteers to lead us to delightful eating spots and pretty biking areas. Bulldog Ride. Class A-/B+, 45-65 miles, average speed 16-18 mph depending on the terrain. Meets most Sundays at the Bulldog statue, in the triangular park at 25th St, Fairmount & Pennsylvania Aves. B Ramble. Class B, 14-15 mph, approx. 40 miles. Meet noon at the Italian Fountain behind the Art Museum. Check the Monthly Calendar for leaders and ride descriptions.

Pennypack Park. Class C, 11-13 mph, 17 miles. Meets noon at Rita's Water Ice in the Academy Plaza parking lot, Red Lion & Academy Roads. This weekly ride leaves from the city's far northeast section and heads toward Pine Road by way of Pennypack Park's paved road. Please RSVP via e-mail or phone. Sunny Sunday Afternoon Ride. Class D, usually 12-22 miles. Meets every Sunday at noon in front of Lloyd Hall, #1 Boathouse Row, on Kelly Drive. For the beginner who wishes to improve his/her cycling skills, for those new to Philadelphia who want to explore the little- known, out-of-the-way places in the city and near suburbs. All November rides are Show and Go.

Sunny Sunday Spin-Off Ride. Class C, usually 25-30 miles. A true C ride which cheerfully waits to regroup. All welcome. Meets 12:15 at the rock near the Italian Fountain, behind the Art Museum. Fridays

The Dawn Patrol. Class B-/C+, 12-20 miles. A predawn ride that sneaks in some miles before the weekend. Meets at the Four Seasons hotel entrance at 5:30 sharp. Out the drives, maybe Forbidden Drive to breakfast at Bruno's. Lights and non-skinny tires (28mm+?) a must. NOTE: this is an On-Call ride. You must leave a message for the leader by 9 Thurs night. Wallyball. Nov. 8 and 22. Come to the Aquatic & Fitness Center at Riverside Racquet at 600 Righters Ferry Road in Bala Cynwyd at 7 pm for a fun and invigorating game of Wallyball. What is it? Volleyball in a racquetball court. We play until at least 9:00. Cost is $7.50 per person. Bring your own lock for a locker. Call the club at 610-664-6464 for directions.
