In January 2008, BCP changed to a rolling membership year, instead of the previous fixed April-through-March year.
Essentially, this means that memberships go for a full year from the time dues are paid.

For example, someone pays dues on November 15th of 2008. The membership is effective immediately, and the November newsletter (or the password to get it from the Web site) is sent. The expiration date would be November 30th of 2009. Since the newsletter distribution lists are prepared in the last week of the month, the member would be sent monthly issues of the newsletter up to and including December 2009.
(Under the previous system, the membership would have expired in March 2009)

Those who were members as of January 1 2008 will be unaffected until May 2008 at the earliest: most members will be sent the QR newsletter through the April 2008 issue, and some even longer.
Those who renew before the expiration of their membership will continue to get the newsletter without any interruption. After that, the membership period depends on how late the renewal is: if you do it soon, no issues will be missed.

Your newsletter mailing label will always show the expiration date, and the last couple of issues will have a prominent reminder on the label.

Those who get their QRs via the emailed password messages should check the top few lines, to see whether it's renewal time.
You might also mark your calendars when you pay dues, so that you'll have your own reminder of when to renew.
