[This is a collection of messsages about parking]
As I recall, there are some big parking lots around 23rd and Fairmount,
near the old prison. Pretty close.
==================
There is a new parking lot in East Falls under the Twin Bridges at Kelly Drive- about 4 miles from Lloyd Hall. It is not yet set up to charge fees and so it should still be 'free' by Saturday.
==================
There is a large parking lot on the West side of 23rd St, between Cherry
and Market Sts, and there is a fairly large lot on the east side of 23rd
St between Race and Cherry Sts. You can access the Schuylkill Path at
Race, just west of 23rd St, and it is approx one mile from there to where
registration is to be done for SSC.
==================
I think the Art Museum and/or Waterworks Cafe have parking for a price.
And of course, there are many roads in the park which have parking along
them or in lots. There are free lots along Kelly and Martin Luther King
drives.
==================
Across Kelly Drive up Sedgley Dr towards Lemon Hill (also occasionally
patrolled by our Phila PD).
The Art Museum parking areas (($)a small fee is charged)
Eakins Oval ($), in front of the Museum.
A new parking lot under the Twin Bridges (Rt 1) at Ferry Rd and Kelly Dr,
an inexpensive honor system, but we've not seen how the money is collected
($2.00 all day or $0.50 ?) approx 3.5 miles west of Lloyd Hall.
The Fairmount Area.
Also plenty of parking facilities around the center city area then just
ride to the back of the Art Museum and voila Lloyd Hall and a bunch
(1000?) of cyclists will be hanging around.
=============================
Two large lots are very close to the bike path. One lot is on 23rd Street
just south of the Cherry St entrance to the Schuylkill River Trail. That
lot holds 660 cars.
The second location is a 550 space lot on the west side of 30th St Station
on JFK Boulevard; this is a great choice if you arriving via the
Schuylkill Expressway from the northwest suburbs. After parking your car,
head into Center City via the Market St Bridge (with the eagle sculptures)
to the ramp down to the Schuylkill River Trail.
