    Sun August 1, 2021 - Sandy Hook Seashore Trek (ad-hoc ride)

    Level B-: 14mph, 70 miles. Meet at Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Route 33 Business, Manalapan, NJ. The ride leaves at 8:30 am. Picturesque adventure ride from Central NJ to Sandy Hook, a 1665-acre barrier peninsula which protrudes into the bay between NJ & NY. Sandy Hook offers a view of the Manhattan skyline, as well as 7 miles of beaches, a lighthouse, and a holly forest. Shortly before reaching the seashore, we'll stop at the Mt. Mitchell Scenic Overlook County Park, which includes a memorial to the heroes of 9-11. This county park provides a spectacular overlook of Sandy Hook Bay and the NYC skyline. The route to & from Sandy Hook will take us along the Navesink and Shrewsbury Rivers, as well as the Swimming River Reservoir. Beginning and ending portions of the route are flat-ish/gently rolling, with a few brisk climbs, but we will stop to regroup as needed. Total elevation gain is 2189 feet. Middle portion of the route (near and on the beach) is flat. Food stops at mile 25 and 45, + an optional Rita's Water Ice stop at mile 62, near the finish. DRIVING DIRECTIONS to the starting point (Visitor Center of Monmouth Battlefield State Park): 1) NJ Turnpike North to Exit 8/Hightstown & Freehold. 2) From Exit 8 ramp, turn right onto NJ-33 East/Franklin St. Stay on 33 East. 3) After crossing CR 527/Millhurst Rd, NJ-33 will split into Business and Expressway. Take the right-lane exit for 33 Business, then bear right at bottom of ramp for 33 Bus East. Look for sign for Monmouth Battlefield Visitor Center. Turn left into Visitor Center entrance. Parking lot is at the end of a long driveway. Please allow at least 75 mins driving time from Phila.     Sun August 1, 2021 - Pottstown and Harleysville (with Skippack Trail)

    Level B-: 12-12.5mph, 63 miles. Meet at Valley Forge National Park - Betzwood Picnic Area (by bathrooms). The ride leaves at 9:00 am. This is about revision 6 of my first route. Fair warning: 3850 feet of climbing. Translation: VERY SCENIC :) Bring the camera. It will include portions of the old SSC from about 18 years ago. If anyone wants to, we can take a peek at the bottom of a 22% hill. We will see almost 4 miles of the Skippack Trail. First and last 4 miles are on the Schuylkill Trail. H2O #1 at WAWA deluxe in Pottstown - mile 24, H2O #2 at Hennings Market in Harleysville - mile 44. We will not be racing! I am looking for a rolling average of 12-ish mph. That said... Direct, shorter ride to Ardmore, intending to get back to Eakins Oval before it rains. True C ride which cheerfully waits to regroup. Some climbing required. No ride if rain at start or 50 percent or more chance of rain during the ride under NOAA forecast. Pre-registration is not required but greatly preferred.

    Mon August 2, 2021 - Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Monday Evening Edition - UDHS Meander to Gwynedd Wawa via Talamore

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 25 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Monday evenings throughout the summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity, relaxed, recovery ride. Cycle peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Mileage will depend on the length of evening daylight. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on our return. Occasionally, this Monday evening ride may be cancelled, if there is a special club event at another location, e.g., a Member Appreciation/Tailgate Social at a larger ride site. Toward the end of the season (late September), this ride will need to leave earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due to evening daylight ending earlier. Cue sheets will not be available.     Level A through D: 10-18.5mph, 20-35 miles. Meet at Church of the Saviour, Wayne, PA. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. WE'RE BACK!!!!!!!! Come ride with the largest evening cycling group in the Delaware Valley Ride Level: D thru A This ride is cross listed at the SCU Meetup site. COVID-19 Protocols are still in effect. Please review these on BCP websites. We have experienced ride leaders and sweep riders so no one gets lost! We do not ride on holidays that fall on a Monday ( Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.).     Levels A-/B+: 16-17mph, B-: 13.5-14.5mph, C+/C: 12.5-13.5mph, 40-50 miles. Meet at Upper Dublin High School. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. Bring yer bike & sense of adventure. Sometimes we'll ride familiar routes, sometimes new ones. Expect good company on safe/low trafficked roads. Lunch stops may be sit down, takeout, or in a park (bring a sandwich/snack).     Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-28 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace, peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on return. This Tuesday night ride meets every week throughout summer, weather permitting, unless there is another special club event in a different location (e.g., Member Appreciation Tailgate Social at a multi-group ride site). We’ll go out towards chestnut hill, through oreland to militia hill and back for about 34 mile ride with 2,000 feet of climbing. Looking to have a fun, friendly ride- no one will be dropped if close to AVERAGE speeds posted. NOTE: might mix it up this week and do the hill ride out to gladwyne, depending on group. Please bring lights. COVID: social distance (20 ft apart while riding, >6 ft apart when stopped). Please bring mask & hand sanitizer. Preregistration saves you writing time at start.     Wed August 4, 2021 - Flourtown Regular Season (A-/B+ and B)

    Levels A-/B+: 17-18mph, B: 15.5-16.5mph, 25-40 miles. Meet at Flourtown Shopping Center. The ride leaves at 6:00 pm. Please join us for rides in Montgomery and Bucks counties. Ride distance will vary based on available daylight. Both groups will use the same route, just at slightly different speeds. We will not drop anyone, but please be sure that you are capable of maintaining the advertised average speed including some hill climbing. We are planning to maintain a group size of no more than 15 riders per group. We will post the ride route in advance for you to download to your device. Please RSVP. Rain at start time, or wet roads will cancel the ride. Our goal is to be back by sunset, but a taillight and headlight are recommended both early and late in the season given the shorter amount of daylight. This ride is a joint BCP/SCU ride. This Thursday Morning ride is a little longer and a little higher up Youngs Ford Rd and down Wayerly Rd to below sea level at Flat Rock Park. Then climb out of the Schuylkill River Valley over Hollow and Hagesford Rds. Remember the goal of the Thursday Morning Hill Ride is to get stronger not faster. Coffee at Thunder Mug Cafe. Meet in same parking lot as the "Multi-Level Conshohocken Rides". Start by riding on Schuylkill River Trail, and/or, Cross County Trail, which connects the Schuylkill w/Plymouth Meeting .     Level B-/C+: 13-14mph, 52 miles. Meet at Horsham Township Library. The ride leaves at 9:15 am. Discover the "Hidden Treasure" of Chubby's Dairy Barn, recently discovered by a pirate who hijacked a birthday ride to this clandestine ice cream paradise concealed in downtown Plumsteadville. Follow the pirate’s treasure map (aka cue sheet) to find the "Hidden Treasure" of Chubby's Dairy Barn, recently discovered by a pirate who hijacked a birthday ride to this clandestine ice cream paradise concealed in a hidden cove in downtown Plumsteadville. Then return via another treasure, called Tabora’s, and sail by scenic Lake Galena. Dramamine not provided on this cruise. From LMc: This loop has 2749 ft of climbing. Convenience store if needed for quick break at Mile 7 in Warrington. Chubby's Ice Cream (and Wawa) in Plumsteadville at Mile 30. Tabora's in Chalfont at Mile 36. Simple ride to the Papper Trail Bike Coffee Shop in Rittenhouse Town, Wisahicon Park. There is the need to climb out of the Schuylkill River Valley. We will accomplish that by taking two levels of up instead of one long level up! Returning via Midvale Ave and sharing the road on MLK Dr with the cars now that the Dr is open to all vehivlar traffic! Cycling out Darby Paloi Rd to Malvern, high on the bluff. Desending into the Great Chester Valley for lunch at Wegmans. Return over the Chester Valley Trail and the Schuylkill River Trail.     Level C: 11.5-12mph, 42 miles. Meet at Spring Mill SEPTA lot beside Riverbend Cycles. The ride leaves at 9:00 am. The rain and warm days have turned the Tacony Creek Trail into a bit of a jungle. Makes for interesting pictures. A few hill climbs, a lot of Philly neighborhoods, and 2 H2O stops. Moderate pace with regrouping at hill tops and traffic signals. Ride distance will vary based on available daylight. Both groups will use the same route, just at slightly different speeds. We will not drop anyone, but please be sure that you are capable of maintaining the advertised average speed including some hill climbing. A five day, four night Cycle Touring bikepacking trip around the Delaware Bay will be Saturday, August 14th - Lums Pond DE State Park; Sunday, August 15th - Killens Pond DE State Park; Monday, August 16th - Delaware Beach DE State Park; Tuesday, August 17th - Woodbine, NJ and Wednesday, August 18th - Home. This is a counterclockwise route differently from previous years. Camping, camp meals except for Monday night at a restaurant close by the Indian River Inlet, DE. Shared costs of about $30 a night. Milage approximately 50 miles a day with a fully loaded bicycle, with tent, sleeping bag and sleejping pad, plus daily cycle wear, and weather related gear. Mess kit. The last day is 65 miles. OWLS (Older, Wiser, Longer, Slower) paced ride following the Schuylkill River Trail to Pottstown. You can also join us at the Comby Street Trailhead of the SRT, which will avoid a challenging climb. But ,all levels of riders are welcomed. We will have a stop at a diner for lunch. After lunch, we go to Take it Outdoors Adventures to rent kayaks. We will be transported up stream 4.5 miles for a beginner friendly 1-2 hour paddle back to the start. The cost for a single Kayak is $40 and for a double kayak or canoe is $65. Ride distance will vary based on available daylight. Both groups will use the same route, just at slightly different speeds.     Fri August 20, 2021 - Five Borough Bridge Ride (ad-hoc ride)

    Level D: 10mph, 42 miles. Meet at 30th Street Station. The ride leaves at 8:15 am. I continue to explore the many bridges in and out of NYC. I have already cycled the Goethals Bridge, the Bayonne Bridge, the George Washington Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge on train assist rides into NYC. This ride will add the Wards Island Bridge, the Robert F Kennedy Bridge and the Roosevelt Island Tramway. We will be skipping the Brooklyn Bridge by going directly to New York's Amtrak Pennsylvania Station catching a train after 7 pm back to Philly. We meet 8:15 am at the Dunkn Donuts in the main lobby of 30th Street Amtrak Station on Friday, August 20th. Boarding the 8:44 am SEPTA Trenton local. Transfer to the NJTRANSIT train # 3834, 9:52am destined to NYC but we get off in Rahway. Cycling up the New Jersey side of the Hudson River over Goethals and Bayonne Bridges to the GW. Once across, we wind our away to the Harlem River Parkway Bike trail, through north west Harlem to the Wards Island Pedestrian Bridge over the Harlem River onto the narrow pedestrian sidewalk with some stairs on the Robert F Kennedy Bridge into Queens. From there onto Roosevelt Island to take the Roosevelt Island Tramway back into Manhattan. The ride will keep moving, stopping for a coffee lunch in Fort Lee. Maybe a refreshment stop on Roosevelt Island. We will need to keep a steady pace so as to catch the 7:09 pm train to Trenton and connecting with SEPTA to arrive back at 30th Street Amtrak Station by 9:51 pm. If not, the next train gets back in Philadelphia an hour later. So ALL day! Cue sheets will not be available.

Some days we'll ride familiar favorite routes, other days we'll scope out new routes. Today we'll ride to Brig O'Doons in Ottsville for a snack/early lunch (mile 21) and then onto Tabora's for a snack or lunch (mile 34). Expect good company and lots of scenic, safe and low trafficked roads (the type of ride you wonder why you don't do it every week). A mixed bag regarding hills. Lots of flat to rolling sections, but also some hillier parts, particularly approaching and leaving Ottsville - not killers, just a lot of up and down. BCP will have a display tent in the plaza of the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (aka, the Velodrome) in Trexlertown, during the Friday Night Races, sponsored by Bicycling Magazine. Gates open for Happy Hour at 6:00pm, but the ACTUAL RACES DO NOT BEGIN UNTIL 7:30pm, allowing you plenty of time to get there after work. BCP will be exhibiting here to promote our club's membership benefits & perks, as well as rides and upcoming events. Music will be playing in the plaza before the races, and there will be family- and kid-friendly entertainment. General Admission tickets are only $9/adult. Young children get free admission. Early rest stop on the way out at Fischer's Park (mile 11 - water and bathrooms), and then a lunch stop (mile 35 - water and bathrooms, bring food/snacks at Heebner Park). Expect good company and lots of safe and low trafficked roads - a few of which we have not ridden on RYBT. Not a particularly hilly ride overall, OTHER THAN 3 relatively short 8-10% hills thrown in.Will regroup as needed, but must be able to maintain the posted pace.     Level D: 10mph, 17 miles. Meet at Cosmic Cafe, Lloyd Hall, # 1 Boathouse Row, Kelly Dr, East Fairmount Park . The ride leaves at 10:00 am. Narberth awaits us. We will take a traditional route out to Great Expectations Together, G.E.T. Then return a traditional way too but different. If KYW is reporting rain outside their studio one hour prior to start, ride cancels. Cue sheets will not be available.

    Tue August 31, 2021 - Delightful, Delicious D (& D+/C-) Ride, Tuesday Evening Edition COVID PRECAUTIONS in Effect. Now Starting Earlier at 5:45, due to Shorter Daylight

    Level C- through D: 10-11.5mph, 15-23 miles. Meet at Glenside Public Library parking lot. The ride leaves at 5:45 pm. Scheduled for most Tuesday evenings throughout summer. Gently paced, post-work evening ride to pedal away the day's stresses, suited for novice riders, newcomers to the area, and/or anyone seeking a low-intensity recovery ride. Relaxed pace, peaceful roads in Eastern Montgomery Co. Please bring lights in case we are delayed on return. This Tuesday night ride meets every week throughout summer, weather permitting, unless there is another special club event in a different location (e.g., Member Appreciation Tailgate Social at a multi-group ride site). Toward end of season, this ride will meet earlier (5:45 or 5:30pm), due shorter evening daylight. Cue sheets will not be available.
